CVE-2023-32736

Arbitrary code execution via unsafe settings deserialization

Published Nov 12, 2024 · Updated Jan 14, 2025

Unsafe deserialization in Siemens engineering platforms before V19 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted settings file. The applications parse user-controlled settings without sufficient sanitization, allowing deserialized data to trigger type confusion. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction to open an untrusted file, and code runs within the affected application.
