Stored script execution via untrimmed Maps URL
Published Oct 12, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Stored XSS in affected Zabbix web frontend releases allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a viewer's browser. CHtmlUrlValidator::validate removed CR, LF, and tab characters but failed to trim leading C0 controls and spaces before parse_url, allowing a crafted Maps URL to pass validation while browsers interpreted it as script-capable content. A low-privilege user must store the URL and another user must view the map, enabling session hijacking, impersonation, or browser-side actions under the viewer's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
