Authenticated file read and write via path traversal
Published Jun 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Path traversal in Splunk App for Lookup File Editing before 4.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to read and write restricted files. Splunk has not disclosed the vulnerable request handler or the pathname-validation operation that accepts crafted traversal sequences. A low-privileged account with access to the app is required, and exploitation is limited to restricted areas of the Splunk installation directory.
