Payment-event forgery via non-constant HMAC comparison
Published May 25, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025
Timing attack in Saleor Core's Adyen plugin allows remote attackers to recover its HMAC secret through webhook requests. The validate_hmac_signature function uses a non-constant-time comparison that leaks signature-match timing information. The Adyen plugin must be enabled; the recovered secret permits forged webhook events that can mark unpaid orders as paid.
