CVE-2023-32681Network attack vector

Proxy credential disclosure via HTTPS redirect header reuse

Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Information disclosure in Python Software Foundation Requests 2.3.0 through 2.30.0 allows remote attackers to obtain proxy credentials. The rebuild_proxies method reattaches Proxy-Authorization to a redirected HTTPS request instead of leaving proxy authentication to urllib3's tunnel handling. Exploitation requires a credential-bearing proxy URL and an attacker-controlled redirect to HTTPS; the destination receives the proxy authorization value.
