CVE-2023-32676Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file write via unchecked archive paths

Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Oct 15, 2024

Path traversal in Autolab before 2.11.0 allows remote authenticated users with instructor access to write arbitrary server files via a tar upload. The importAsmtFromTar method joins each archive entry's untrusted full_name to the course root and writes it without ensuring the resolved path remains inside the assessment directory. An existing course and instructor permissions are required; overwriting a subsequently executed file can lead to code execution in the server process context.
