Credential enumeration via distinguishable authentication errors
Published Jul 19, 2023 · Updated Oct 28, 2024
Improper authentication controls in Weintek Weincloud Account API 0.13.6 and earlier allow remote attackers to enumerate account identifiers. The Account API returns distinguishable failure responses and insufficiently restricts repeated login attempts, exposing authentication hints that streamline credential guessing. No account or user interaction is required, but exploitation depends on repeated remote login requests and reveals account-validity signals rather than stored credentials.
