SYSTEM code execution via updateSkin path traversal
Published Aug 10, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Ivanti Avalanche before 6.4.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through the RemoteControl server. The updateSkin method uses a user-supplied path in file operations without proper validation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs code as SYSTEM.
