CVE-2023-3252Network attack vector

Service interruption via logging-variable file overwrite

Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Arbitrary file write in Tenable Nessus before 10.6.0 allows remote authenticated users with administrator privileges to interrupt service. The logging configuration accepts administrator-controlled file destinations and writes log data to them without restricting the target path. Exploitation requires remote access to an authenticated administrator account; the reported consequence is host-file corruption and service interruption, not code execution.
