CVE-2023-32479

Privilege escalation via improper installation-directory ACL

Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

ACL weakness in Dell Encryption, Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise, and Security Management Server before 11.9.0 allows privilege escalation. A non-default installation directory receives an ACL that permits a low-privileged account to replace installed binaries that execute with elevated rights. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, the non-default path, and user interaction; successful replacement yields an elevated reverse shell.
