Sandbox escape via undisclosed NSSpellChecker logic
Published Jul 28, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Sandbox escape in NSSpellChecker in Apple macOS allows local users to circumvent sandbox restrictions from a sandboxed process. Apple identifies a validation-related logic error in NSSpellChecker but has not disclosed the faulty input, code path, or operation. Exploitation requires code already running inside an application sandbox on Big Sur before 11.7.9, Monterey before 12.6.8, or Ventura before 13.5; Apple reports no further consequence.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
