Process-memory disclosure via malformed 3D model
Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in Apple Model I/O across affected platforms allows attackers to disclose process memory via a crafted 3D model. Model I/O reads beyond an input buffer while parsing insufficiently validated model data, exposing bytes from the hosting process. Reachability requires local processing of attacker-controlled model content and user interaction; no integrity or availability impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
