Arbitrary file read via unsanitized log path
Published May 18, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025
Path traversal in Ombi before 4.38.2 allows remote authenticated users with administrative access to read host files through log endpoints. The ReadLogFile and Download actions in SystemController.cs pass the unsanitized logFileName value to Path.Combine, so traversal segments or an absolute path escape the Logs directory. An Ombi administrator account is required; readable data is limited to files accessible to the Ombi service process and includes other users' and system files when the service runs with elevated privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
