CVE-2023-32303

API credential disclosure via permissive secret-file creation

Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025

Incorrect file permissions in Planet SDK for Python before 2.0.1 allow local users to read stored Planet API credentials. The _SecretFile._write method creates ~/.planet.json through Python's default open operation without requesting user-only mode 0600. Any local account granted group or other read access by the process umask can copy the credential and use the associated Planet API access.
