Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked reset key
Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Improper authentication in Essential Addons for Elementor 5.4.0 through 5.7.1 allows remote attackers to take over administrator accounts. The reset_password function accepts a front-page nonce and directly changes the named user's password without validating a password-reset key. A valid username and the exposed nonce suffice; resetting an administrator password permits administrative access and locks out that account.
