Privilege escalation via pre-created installer path
Published Jul 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
Privilege escalation in Vasion PrinterLogic Client for Windows before 25.0.0.818 allows local users to execute code with elevated rights. Its installer executes binaries from a subfolder of C:\Windows\Temp without preventing a standard user from pre-creating the folder and payload path. A standard local account and the ability to prepare that path before installation are required, after which attacker-controlled code runs with the installer's elevated privileges.
