CVE-2023-32229Network attack vector

Permanent camera failure via secure-element write mishandling

Published Jun 15, 2023 · Updated Dec 12, 2024

Improper write handling in Bosch Camera Firmware on CPP13 and CPP14 allows remote authenticated users to permanently disable cameras. The Stream security interface mishandles secure-element writes when video signing uses MD5, SHA-1, or SHA-256, permanently damaging the chip. CPP13 firmware before 8.48 and CPP14 firmware 8.50 through 8.72 are affected; administrative access is required, and the option is disabled by default.
