SYSTEM code execution via unchecked deletion path
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Path traversal in VIPRE Antivirus Plus before 12.0.1.203 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The DeleteHistoryFile method accepts a user-supplied path without restricting traversal before using it in file operations. Low-privileged code execution on the host is required, after which the flaw permits arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
