Root code execution via unvalidated EmailFrom input
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-2640 firmware 1.11B02 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code as root. The HNAP1 endpoint uses the user-controlled EmailFrom string in a system call without proper validation. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access and authentication, but the router's authentication mechanism can be bypassed.
