Root code execution via unchecked heap copy
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Heap-based buffer overflow in D-Link DAP-1360 6.14B01 EU HOTFIX allows remote attackers to execute code via adjacent-network requests. The /cgi-bin/webproc endpoint copies user-supplied request data into a fixed-length heap buffer without validating its length. No authentication is required, but the attacker must share a network segment or wireless range; successful exploitation runs code as root.
