Subscriber-level plugin activation via missing capability check
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Missing authorization in Sparkle WP Editorialmag 1.1.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to activate arbitrary WordPress plugins. The theme's welcome handler invokes activate_plugin without verifying that the caller has the capability required to manage plugins. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, allowing site functionality to be changed through any installed plugin that can be activated.
