Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Christos Pechlevanoudis Library Viewer 2.0.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in visitors' browsers. The shortcode handler returns attacker-controlled attributes to page output without adequate validation or contextual escaping, persisting the payload in a post. Contributor-level access is required to save the crafted shortcode, and execution occurs when another user opens the injected page.
