CVE-2023-32097Network attack vector

Cryptographic key disclosure via elided buffer clearing

Published May 18, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025

Memory disclosure in Silicon Labs Gecko Platform 4.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to recover duplicated key material. The compiler treats buffer clearing in sli_crypto_transparent_aead_decrypt_tag as a dead store and removes it, leaving a key copy in RAM. Exploitation requires authenticated network access and access to the affected memory contents; the documented consequence is key disclosure without data modification or service interruption.
