Key disclosure via optimized-away buffer clearing
Published May 18, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025
Information disclosure in Silicon Labs Gecko Platform SDK 4.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to expose key material in RAM. In sli_crypto_transparent_aead_encrypt_tag, ordinary buffer clearing is optimized away as a dead store, leaving an AEAD key duplicate in memory after use. Exploitation requires network access, low privileges, and conditions permitting recovery of residual RAM contents; the published impact is limited to key confidentiality.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
