Phishing redirects via incomplete absolute-URL validation
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
Open redirect in XWiki Platform before 14.10.4 allows remote attackers to redirect users to untrusted sites via crafted URL parameters. XWikiServletResponse.sendRedirect treats only scheme strings followed by :// as absolute, so values such as http:example.com bypass trusted-domain validation. Exploitation requires a user to open an attacker-crafted XWiki URL, after which the browser is sent to a phishing-controlled site.
