Comment hiding via unrestricted iframe rendering
Published Jun 13, 2023 · Updated Jan 2, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Discourse before 3.0.4 or 3.1.0.beta5 allows remote authenticated users to hide comments via a crafted iframe. The topic-creation path accepts and renders an iframe tag without restrictions, letting crafted frame markup obscure comments that follow the post. A valid account able to create a topic is required, and the documented consequence is manipulation of comment visibility.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
