Subscriber-level option tampering via unchecked AJAX handler
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Extend Themes Materialis 1.1.24 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter WordPress options via AJAX. The AJAX-exposed companion_disable_popup() handler performs no authorization check before updating a selected option to a numeric value. Subscriber-level access is sufficient; the documented effect is limited to site-option integrity because only numeric values can be written.
