CVE-2023-31982Public exploit

Application crash via truncated IP frame

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Heap out-of-bounds read in Irontec Sngrep 1.6.0 allows local users to crash the application via a crafted packet-capture file. capture_packet_reasm_ip reads IP-header fields before confirming that a captured frame contains a complete IPv4 or IPv6 header. The user must open the crafted capture file in Sngrep; the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer-detected process abort.
