CVE-2023-3195

Application crash via undersized TIFF tile buffer

Published Jun 16, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in ImageMagick 6 before 6.9.12-26 and 7 before 7.1.0-11 allows local users to crash it with a crafted TIFF file. ReadTIFFImage sizes tile_pixels from the greater of the row or tile byte counts but omits additional per-column 32- or 64-bit storage used during decoding. A local user must cause a victim or automated workflow to process the malicious file; exploitation terminates the processing application without reported data disclosure or modification.
