Process crash via nested exception assertion
Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Reachable assertion in JerryScript 3.0 allows local users to crash an embedding process by supplying crafted JavaScript. A Proxy-based RegExp matchAll call reaches invalid-flag handling with an exception already pending, and jcontext_raise_exception raises another error despite its no-pending-exception assertion. Execution requires crafted script input and aborts the hosting process, with no reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
