Stored XSS via unchecked reaction codepoint
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025
Stored XSS in Wekan 6.84 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when another user views a comment reaction. The commentReactionSchema accepted arbitrary reactionCodepoint strings; the patch adds a nine-character limit and requires a numeric HTML character-reference pattern. A board user can store the payload through the reaction feature, but execution requires another user to render the affected reaction in a browser.
