Local privilege escalation via replaceable service executable
Published May 24, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Wondershare MobileTrans 4.0.11 allows local users to gain administrator access by replacing a service executable. ElevationService runs ElevationService.exe as LocalSystem while the executable's access-control list grants Everyone full control, enabling an unprivileged replacement. A low-privileged Windows session and a subsequent service start are required; the replacement then executes with LocalSystem privileges.
