Shell access via Start_EPI parameter injection
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Command injection in Linksys WRT54GL firmware 4.30.18.006 allows remote authenticated users to obtain a shell through management requests. The httpd Start_EPI() function passes the wl_ant, wl_rate, WL_atten_ctl, ttcp_num, and ttcp_size POST parameters to a command context without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Web management privileges are required; successful injection executes commands with the router's shell privileges and can fully compromise the device.
