Arbitrary archive extraction via unsanitized filename
Published Jun 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Path traversal in Froxlor before 2.0.20 allows remote authenticated users to extract an attacker-selected local archive through the web updater. In admin_autoupdate.php, the extract action concatenates the POST or GET archive value under the updates directory and passes the resulting path to AutoUpdate::extractZip without canonicalization. Administrative access to the updater is required; extracting a chosen archive can disclose its contents or interrupt the service.
