Script execution via unencoded from parameter
Published May 17, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
Reflected XSS in Microworld Technologies eScan Management Console 14.0.1400.2281 allows remote attackers to run script via a crafted URL. The editUserName endpoint reflects the from URL parameter into an HTML attribute without output encoding, allowing injected markup to break out and execute in the browser. Exploitation requires a logged-in console user to follow the link; the script then runs in that user's session and can expose session data or perform console actions with that user's privileges.
