Stored XSS via unescaped email subjects
Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WP Reroute Email 1.4.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to run scripts via crafted email subjects. The email log stores attacker-controlled subject text and renders it in its administrative interface without sanitizing input or escaping output. Email logging must be enabled, an external path such as a contact form must create the email, and a user must open the stored log; code then runs in that user's browser context.
