CVE-2023-31654Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via duplicate hiredis allocator global

Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated May 30, 2025

ODR violation in RedisRaft master-1b8bd86 through master-7b46079 allows attackers to crash Redis when RedisRaft is loaded. RedisRaft and Redis each register a 40-byte hiredisAllocFns global, so AddressSanitizer treats the duplicate definitions as an ODR violation and aborts the process. Public records identify no attacker-controlled input and do not demonstrate a crash in non-instrumented production builds, limiting the demonstrated consequence to the instrumented startup configuration.
