Database crash via contradictory SQL predicates
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open-Source Edition 7.2.9 allows remote attackers to crash the database via crafted SQL. The SQL optimizer's sqlo_preds_contradiction routine crashes while compiling a query that combines contradictory IN predicates on a view column. The attacker must be able to submit SQL statements to the server; successful exploitation interrupts the database service without reported data disclosure or modification.
