Server crash via positioned DELETE compilation
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.9 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server with crafted SQL. The SQL compiler reaches sqlc_make_policy_trig while compiling DELETE FROM ucview WHERE CURRENT OF c1, and the server terminates. The public reproduction submits the statement through isql as the dba account; the documented consequence is a crash without reported data access or modification.
