Server crash via crafted SQL statements
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open-Source Edition 7.2.9 allows remote attackers to crash the server via crafted SQL statements. The chash_array execution path reaches a segmentation fault while processing a malformed INSERT with repeated target columns before a LEFT JOIN. A reachable SQL endpoint that accepts the statements is required; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, not data access or modification.
