Stored XSS via unescaped email subjects
Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Rahal Aboulfeth Mail Control 0 through 0.3.1 allows remote attackers to run scripts through crafted email subjects. The email-log administration table renders each stored subject without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, allowing HTML and script markup to enter the page. No authentication is needed to send the crafted subject, but a user must open the affected log page; the script then runs in that viewer's browser context.
