Remote bgpd crash via unchecked Prefix-SID length
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in FRRouting bgpd 8.4.2 allows remote attackers to crash the daemon through a crafted Prefix-SID sub-TLV. bgp_attr_psid_sub() accepts a zero length for an SRv6 L3 Service sub-TLV, then stream_getc() reads a reserved byte without confirming that one remains. The malformed attribute must reach the BGP parser; successful processing terminates bgpd and interrupts routing service without disclosing or modifying data.
