Code execution via out-of-bounds document write
Published Jan 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Hyland Perceptive Filters released before 2023-12-08 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted documents. The document-filtering parser writes past an allocated buffer while processing attacker-controlled content, causing a segmentation fault and enabling process takeover. Exploitation requires an integrating product, including a Cisco email security gateway, to pass the crafted document to the embedded filter; the bounded outcomes are a filter-process crash or arbitrary code execution.
