Authenticated file overwrite via shell metacharacter bypass
Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Blind command injection in GL.iNet GL-MV1000 firmware 3.215 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite short-path files. The /api/router/mac/clone handler fails to reject angle-bracket redirection in newmac before inserting it into an iw-and-grep shell command. A valid API token is required; exploitation can create or truncate a path of at most six characters from /www, including /www/api, interrupting the web interface.
