CVE-2023-31468Public exploit

SYSTEM escalation via writable installation directory

Published Sep 11, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in INOSOFT VisiWin 7 before 2024-1 allow local users to execute malicious code as SYSTEM. The installer grants Everyone full control over %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\INOSOFT GmbH, including VisiWin7.Server.Manager.exe, which runs with SYSTEM privileges. A low-privileged local account must replace or modify an executable in that directory; later privileged execution gives the account SYSTEM control.
