Unauthenticated command execution via getsamplebacklog argument injection
Published Jul 26, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
OS command injection in FSMLabs TimeKeeper 8.0.17 through 8.0.28 allows remote attackers to execute Bash commands via crafted HTTP requests. The getsamplebacklog handler passes the arg[2] URL query value into a Bash command without neutralizing shell metacharacters, including braces. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs commands with the TimeKeeper server process's privileges.
