Local file disclosure via CLI grep misuse
Published Aug 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Improper file handling in the CLI of Brocade Fabric OS before 9.1.1c and 9.2.0 allows local users to read files in their home directories. The CLI passes user-selected file input to grep and returns file contents from the user's home directory instead of restricting the operation to safe file types. Exploitation requires authenticated local CLI access, and the reported consequence is file disclosure without file modification or command execution.
