Host command execution via crafted configuration payload
Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Code injection in Elastic Kibana 8.0.0 through 8.7.0 allows local users to execute commands through crafted configuration. Kibana's configuration-loading path interprets a specific YAML or environment payload as executable JavaScript instead of configuration data. Exploitation requires configuration write access and runs commands with Kibana process permissions; Elastic has not published the payload format or affected key.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
