Local privilege escalation via insecure installation permissions
Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Incorrect permissions in AMD AIM-T Manageability Service before 4.0.0.722 allow local users to execute code with elevated privileges. The installer fails to restrict ACLs on a non-default installation folder and its subfolders and files while the service runs with elevated privileges. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, user interaction during installation, and a consciously selected non-default path; successful exploitation executes arbitrary code at the service privilege level.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
