CVE-2023-31351

Guest-memory corruption via unrestricted IOMMU operations

Published Sep 6, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2025

Improper IOMMU restrictions in affected AMD EPYC processors allow local users with hypervisor privileges to corrupt SEV-SNP guest private memory. AMD has not disclosed which IOMMU operation lacks restriction or how it reaches protected guest pages. Exploitation requires control of the host hypervisor and high attack complexity; successful access changes guest-private data without reported disclosure or service interruption.
